I have a traveling job that lands me in a different hotel every night- and of all the places I stayed, this remains my favorite. Every time I visit the south coast I stay here. It's also a good choice for those wanting to see Miami and feel safe at night! Besides being half an hour from downtown Miami and South Beach, downtown Hollywood, situated on every side of the quaint hotel, is darling! They have an ecclectic mix of nightlife- salsa, jazz, irish pub, and several shops and salons where you can pick up a cuban coffee (not for the faint of heart) and go antiquing. All within easy walking distance. And by easy I mean two blocks or less. Even the rooms had a little flair- supersoft blankets and decorative tiling, that you usually can't find at that price.
- Pros: Nicely decorated, great nightlife, quiet in rooms, hot breakfast
- Cons: very punctual about checkout, so be ready for a lot of calls at 10:45

Hotel located by the airport and cruise port, offers poolside dining plus a tiki bar; restaurants, cafes and galleries nearby.

If you do not care much about appeal in a room, and you care more about just having a place to lay your head, then this place is OK. They have tried to rennovate in the past several years, but I find this hotel dark inside. Several of my out -of -town friends have stayed here and they did not have a good report. They had a stained carpet and the linens did not seem fresh.
The property manager is very nice and a sweetheart, but I can not say that for the rooms.
I have tried eating in their restaurant several times and it is empty. One time when I went, the cook was not scheduled to show for dinner until 8 pm, and another time, they only had 3 selections available on the entire menu. They were out of everything else!
The redeeming factors for this hotel are the location and price. You can get a room for about $60 and you just walk onto Hollywood Blvd. from the hotel to all the galleries, restaurants and stores.
PROS: price and location
CONS: rooms are dark and not that clean
