Valentine Reservation Disaster
by foodieflorida at Citysearch
Awful service, even before we stepped into the restaurant. We made a reservation using Opentable (which is great) and less than 24hrs before the reservation the restaurant calls me telling me that I must give them my credit card number over the phone to secure the reservation. I explained that I did not feel comfortable giving out credit card numbers over the phone. They had me over a barrel. Give out my credit card or loose my reservation. I was very upset. Too late to change my plans and make arrangements at another restaurant.
She became impatient with me when I was tossing up my options (I was in line to board a plane home last night) then she said she's canceling my reservation and hung up in my ear!!!!!
It was a set menu $150 for 2 (plus we usually give 25% tip for special nights) so what's their service going to be like on valentine's night? I talked it over with my husband - it was supposed to be a surprise....but I couldn't surprise him if I had to explain we needed to either give a credit card number or drive 30mins to give my credit card in person.
This was our first time reserving a table at this restaurant and we were really excited to discover a new place - plus we LOVE sushi. We could have been good customers? AND in this economy. Maybe they don't need any more customers. Oh well.
- Pros: Save your money
- Cons: No customer service
Very nice place to chill out with friend for dinner!

I have been to dozen of Thai restaurants and this place is one of the best by far! I mean it worths the money because the atmosphere, service, and food were all top notch. Our waiter was named Frank and he was probably one of the best waiter we have ever had. Sushi tasted so fresh and I would recommend Tuna tears. That's my favorite!
- Pros: Food, service, and valet parking
- Cons: Make a reservation on weekend otherwise you might have to wait
Good Sushi and Service
by goeagles1975 at Citysearch
The sushi at Galanga is very good. I had the Volcano Roll and the Spider Roll and both were very good, recommended. The crab meat on top of the Volcano Roll is very tasty. Spider Roll had a crunch to it that was unlike any sushi I had before. Our server was very good as well, very polite. It wasn't that crowded either, there was no wait and we were seated right away. This was at the beginning of the week though so I'm not sure of what the weekends are like. It's also notable that it's decorated very nicely as well. Overall I would recommend Galanga to anyone visiting Ft. Lauderdale.
Best sushi in Fort Lauderdale hands down
by hddjan at Citysearch
First brought here on a date three years ago and have been going back ever since. Server was friendly and attentive. This place has a very good thai menu but their sushi is the best I've had in Fort Lauderdale. My favorites are the spicy tuna salad and four seasons. The place is decorated very well with attention to detail. There are bamboo chairs against deep red walls with gold inscriptions. Very posh. Will continue to go back :)
below average food and terrible service

We read some negative reviews, but went anyway. The maitre d' took our reservation over the phone, but when we got there we had to wait ~20 minutes. He kept on forgettting who we were and if we had made a reservation. I figured, "It's okay, it's pretty busy. "
Finally we got seated at the outside patio, which is quite nice. The food came. It was just okay. I've had much better for cheaper. Nothing horrible though. The food took a looooonnnng time to come and the waiter forgot to bring soy sauce for the sushi (which was the best thing there) and took a while to bring it when reminded.
The real "treat" though was the maitre d's completely drunk offensive friends behind us and the maitre d' who came over to join them, talk on his cell phone to make a date, and in general just inconvience the other paying customers. (Bumping into our table - the maitre d' and his friends - not excusing themselves, sitting down at customers tables - actually on them - and chatting with them whether or not they wanted them to.) Keep in mind, I don't mind drunk people. In fact, usually they are some of my favorite kind of people.
So overall:
Ambience - nice setting with a pleasant outdoor patio.
Food - just average to slightly below average, except for the sushi, which was pretty good.
Service - lousy.
Conclusion - not worth the price.
- Pros: ambience
- Cons: service, food
Bad News

I went here twice. The first time was a weekend, night. It was crowded. I did not have a reservation. When I went in, they rude guy behind the host desk asked if you had a reservation. When I said I didn't he said very rudely, "No reservation, PATIO!" and had me seated on the outside patio. He said it as if he thought I was crazy to have dared walked into his restaurant without a reservation. The service on the patio was slow. I was not impressed with the food. The second time I went, it was much worse. I first ordered the miso soup, and found a dead gnat in it. I then ordered the seafood pad thai as my meal. Almost finished with it, I noticed a BIG DEAD FLY in it. It looked as if it were cooked into the meal. I had already told the waitress about the gnat, and by the time I got to the fly I didn't even bother, I just paid the check and left. They obviously have insect issues.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Plenty
Service Very Good BUT Food below average for Thai
by culinartartist at Citysearch
I ordered springrolls a Thai staple, they were soggy and greasy, likely frozen made ahead of time and the oil not hot enough. Then I had mussles but the sauce tasted like thickened coconut milk and beef bullion mix. I sent it back and got the Tom Ka soup which I found inedible due to a HUGE amount of cilantro. The kitchen was clearly off stride this night so I opted for Sushi and it was quite decent, it just happens that I really was looking forward to excellent Thai. In fairness my pal had the vegetables in Green curry and it was well prepared so I am at a loss to explain the kitchen's mismanagement this night.
- Pros: Nice waitstaff and ambience
- Cons: kitchen very uneven in preparation of Thai foods

Solid Asian food, a rarity in the area
by molightmore at Citysearch
Good scene-- a fun, energetic place with a big menu. Dark and candlelit, it's romantic but still buzzing with life. The food is very solid, but overpriced. The sea bass is tasty but for $27 you expect it to be. Stay away from the sushi--- not worth it here. The appetizers (the platter for 2) is very good. Dessert selections were so-so. But this place stands out because of the good scene; you won't be disappointed with the food, but you won't be in awe, either.
