Sunrise Cinemas = Rude Service

Like most people, I don't see a movie on impulse. It is a planned event. After planning all week to see "District 9" on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Sunrise Cinemas Las Olas Riverfront, my night was unexpectedly ruined by poor service and impersonal policies.

I arrived at 9:30 pm, about 20 minutes early, and, as I attempted to pay for my tickets (2), the clerk advised me that their policy is not to accept bills larger than a $20. Understanding his lack of seniority and, likewise, discretion, I asked politely to see a Manager. The Manager took her time coming to the counter, fielded a phone call mid-conversation, and advised me that she wanted to "keep her job" and would not accept my money. I pleaded with her to thoroughly inspect my bill and exercise some discretionary authority so as not to ruin my evening. Not only did she not comply, she did NOTHING to express even the slightest interest in my business.

I will never waste my disposable income at this place again, when there are so many nearby options. She could have 1. apologized for the inconvenience 2. Suggested an alternative or 3. (God forbid) offered two whole free movie tickets, in return for my certain unmitigated loyalty to this theater.

It was like talking to a wall. I apologized to my date and went home.
