I wouldn't go anywhere else!. I just have to say that Bayview is one of the friendliest places in Fort Lauderdale. After I moved here from Michigan, my friend recommended I come here for my 2 dogs and I am so glad I did! All of the staff is always happy to see me and my dogs, and Dr. Smith and Dr. Nelson not only explain everything to me, but are super great with my dogs. I've had to come in on 3 emergencies and Dr. Smith has met me within 15-20 minutes every time. I feel fortunate to have found a vet that I can trust and rely on 24/7!…

Five Stars for My New Vet. I brought my pug, Snapps, here recently for a skin infection on his face, growth removal and dental and was very nervous about the procedure because the growth was very close to my dog's eye. Dr. Smith and staff were so kind and patient and gentle with my pet. His eyes, face and teeth look beautiful. Looking at him, you can't even tell which eye had the growth. And guess what, he only charged me for the dental package and the prescriptions I needed to take home. So incredibly fair about the price, which is very hard to find in pet care.

As for the emergency call number, my brother who has never been there had a scare this weekend with his dog being sick and they talked him through his symptoms, determined it wasn't an emergency but told him how to care for him over the phone and his dog's doing so much better.

Anyone with a pet in the Fort Lauderdale area has got to give this place a try.…

Dr. Nelson & Staff are a Godsend. I have taken all three of my cats in to see Dr. Nelson. You can't fake his caring, knowledgeable way with them. He has personally called me to see how they are doing and with my Sweet Pea terminal I greatly appreciate all the love and care he and his staff have afforded me.

I too called after hours and spoke to a live person who said they could meet me at the clinic in 15 minutes.

I can't say enough about this Clinic and Dr. Nelson.

Emergency Services Falsely Offered. This vet clinic says that they offer emergency services for "established clients only". The DO NOT offer emergency services. If you call after hours in an emergency situation you will get a very long message which will then give you another number to write down, hang up and call. You will then listen to another very long message that if "someone" has not called you back in 10 minutes "there may not be a doctor available". They will then give you the number of a real emergency clinic (which is excellent by the way) VLS 954-641-1100. My dog had a seizure and stopped breathing, I had called all 3 of the numbers wasting precious minutes listening to useless messages from Bayview and was in my car on the way to the real emergency clinic when Marissa called back after finishing her shower to see if I still needed anything. I love Dr. Nelson but emergency services are not available through this clinic, sadly. Dr. Nelson used to be more reliable and was there when I needed him especially in case of emergency. NOT THE CASE TODAY. Do not waste precious time trying to contact Bayview Animial Clinic in case of emergency.…

Amazing Vet, Staff & Prices.... I must say, I absolutely love this vet. I just took my 6 year old dog Mia in for her first visit to this clinic and I was absolutely blown away by how friendly the staff was here. The clinic is spotless, the staff was great and Dr. Christopher Smith was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He really went above and beyond my expectations. He really took the time to look over my dog and spent about 45 minutes just talking with me about her health and wellbeing. He honestly cared and didn't make me feel like I was just a number. It is hard these days to find people like that, especially veterinarians. He wasn't pushy like some vets I have been to and their prices are some of the lowest in the area. I would definitely recommend this vet clinic to everyone in the area...…

ABSOLUTELY TAKE YOUR PARROT-BIRDS HERE. This is a 5 star review of Dr. Christopher Smith and the staff from Bayview Animal Clinic, and a comment to parrotlover2011. However I need to begin with a story first so everyone understands how special this Doctor Christopher Smith IS! I am a 18 year former client of Dr. Zielezienski-Roberts (Dr. Z). She was in my mind the best South Florida had to offer in Avian Medicine, however she passed almost a year ago and I was very upset not only to lose a special friend but a great vet and I know I say that for every other Bird Client she had. Life goes on and we all needed to find a new Avian Vet, Dr. Smith in my opinion fits the legacy that Dr. Z left behind. He has seen all of my birds that I have owned, some for 21 years and yes are all still alive. Dr. Z played a big role and I AM a good mom, but Dr. Smith and other various vets are taking over that role. In my opinion Dr. Smith is the best Avian Vet our there for our Beloved Bird Families. Not only is he knowledgable but he has an outstanding passion for birds. He takes care of clients in not only a timely manner, including his return calls but he also gives the client the feeling of great appreciation for their pets, yes he does all kinds. All of the staff are extremely professional and caring as well. I proudly say if it were not for his encouragement, dedication, compassion and true understanding of this special breed I may not sitll be with 1 of my birds, my Sun Conure. Animal Clinics are busy places but Bayview Animal Clinic is truly commited to the care of all animals and I would go nowhere else!…

don't take your parrot here. I've heard good things about Dr. Nelson and his dog practice. Maybe he's great but I will never take my dog there. Our experience with Dr. Christopher Smith was so appalling that I want anyone with an avian to know--this veterinarian doesn't possess the communications skills necessary or the desire to help a bird owner in an emergency.

After paying for lab tests and such (not inexpensive), I continued to phone Dr. Christopher Smith daily during business hours for results. I finally heard from him after 6:00 p.m. on Friday night. His office informed me, each time I phoned, that the doctor was in surgery. That's ok, if someone else communicates, but no one did. And calling after 6:00 p.m. on Friday night, even when I called back within seconds, got the office voice mailbox. For an extra emergency fee, the doctor was available to meet me at the clinic, though.

I requested a phone call from the very busy Dr. Christopher Smith, and was told by the emergency line that she would let him know that I wanted a phone call--and that extra charges would apply since I was calling the emergency line. I didn't receive a phone call, nor did I receive an email message of any kind (though I requested it) with a contact number.

What was the strategy? To make us drive to the clinic for an emergency consult? It sure seems like a possibility! But if you know anything about parrots, dragging them around when weak and sick isn't a good idea.

The following morning, Saturday, the super-busy Dr. Christopher Smith mentioned that he'd sent an email--to the wrong address.

Maybe these folks treat canine patients well, but they don't know anything about birds (other than what they've read in textbooks).…

I have been a client of Bayview animal clinic for years, and my animals and I have always been treated with compassion and respect whether we were there for the pets' shots or most recently on an emergency. Two of my dogs got into a fight which resulted in my little one getting bitten on the eye very badly. I called the emergency number and Dr.Christopher Smith met me at Bayview within 20 minutes even though it was a friday night. He looked at my dog and explained to me what he was going to do to fix my dog in great detail and made sure everything was okay with me before he proceeded. (something which is greatly appreciated!) My dog's eye is completely back to normal now, which at the time of the fight I thought would never happen, and I am so appreciative of Dr.Smith for not just his personal time he took to meet me, but his obvious compassion for my dog's well being. He is the vet I will use for all my animals! If you want a great vet, you will find him at Bayview Animal Clinic!…
