After living and playing NJ for many
years I was hesitant to try the casinos in South Florida. The Indian places are all smoking, having quit in 1982 that's a real negative for me. Mediocre personal, not nasty, but not all that friendly. While the Isle did a good job of bailing me out when I walked away from their blackjack machine without my ticket. I didn't like the idea of no dealer.
Over the weekend I ventured to Hollywood dog track and this casino. OK so it's not Nevada, not NJ, not even Mississippi, but if you play blackjack their video blackjack WITH a dealer is very friendly. Stand on S17, resplit to 4 hands, double after split, and surrender which means a house advantage of 00.42%, a full point better then the Tribes places.
Remember it was one trip, however everyone I came in contact with were friendly, pleasant and seemed knowledgeable of their role. I only play BJ (I'm a tough player but in the long run I know I lose more then I win,lol) I don't know any other game, except perhaps Baccarat(a no brainier) well enough to use REAL money :)Never have been into slots so I must pass on reviewing these other games. Non-smoking is a plus for me, and first trip a $25.00 free play credit after $100.00 in action is nice too.
I enjoyed playing with Gabi, a dealer, and BG a tough looking pit boss, but a real nice girl.
poker room- what a disapointment. I have to concur with the other poker room review. Incompetent floor staff and overall lower class place. I would rather play at Gulf Stream or Hard Rock
French Quarters excellently managed. Many years ago Mayor Joy Cooper my wife and I had a conversation about the economy and the importance of a successful Mardi Gras Casino and the 1/2 of Gulfstreams tax revenue and employment for the community. Dan Atkins,my wife & I had a similar conversation.When the facility had dogs and few people. Dan fought upstream against incredible taxes paid to the state,local and federal Govt's.The facility is state of the art.The staff is the friendliest and the food and drinks are the best.The Dawg Pound for pay per view is the best deal and fun in S.Fl. The entire Casino and staff plus incentives make it a must. Aventura,Hollywood and the surrounding area's need to represent and keep the $ in the area. The French Quarter is the best local food at the fairest prices! Thanks for some flavor.Food can get a little bland around here. :-}
Great place for fun, interesting things to watch, music and. This has now become mine and my husbands favorite Friday night date place. The French Quarter up stairs has the most wonderful servers and cooks. Our food is always wonderful and the prices are awesome. After dinner we go down stairs for gaming, watch singers or whatever new event for that day. Im even bringing friends there now and they fully agree.
Win at the French Quarter. You walk into a restaurant with a fine dining decor complete with white table cloths. Wait..check out the prices and selections. Fine dining at affordable prices. I was pleasantly surprised and grazed the daily buffet table, ordered the burger (my favorite). I could not have made it at home for that price. Oh, did I forget to mention the wait staff...nice n friendly and knowledgable regarding the menu. Additionally, I always stop to play Blackjack to work up my appetite. i could eat both lunch and dinner the same day at the French Quarter and be one happy camper!
Best Atmosphere in Town. Just watched the Steelers game with a group of friends at the Mardi Gras Casino Sports Bar. My group of six turned into so many I lost count. We've been here all day and were planning to leave but we've been having so much fun we're now watching the Packers/Falcons game! We are coming here for the Superbowl for sure. Warm and friendly atmosphere, good food and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!
Fun girls night out!. My friends and I checked out Mardi Gras Casino after work one night. It is relatively close to our job so we figured it was the best place to have a Girls Night Out. I had been there before with my husband and enjoyed it. I don’t find it as intimidating as the Hard Rock. It is a really great place for locals to go and hang out. As it was a Tuesday night, we decided to check out the karaoke. The guy that was running it was great. He would sing with some of the people that got up there if they didn’t want to sing alone. One of my friends has a great voice so she got up and sang a few songs. After a few drinks, the rest of us got up and sang as well. Everybody was getting up and singing. It was a lot of fun and we have made plans to go back again.
My husband and I recently dined at the French Quarter restaurant at the Mardi Gras casino an I have to tell you that you really should come and enjoy what they have to offer. The place is gorgeous and they have it beautifully decorated for Christmas. In the French Quarter, the staff was friendly and helpful. I noticed how they all seemed to work together to keep the place running smoothly. There a very friendly manager with an accent that was very nice and he stopped by a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. There were some great menu choices like Spanish Paella, Twin Lobster Tails, and a Spinach and Cranberry salad that sounded absolutely delicious! They also had things like BBQ Ribs, Chicken Parmigiana, burgers and sandwiches, and a long list of side dishes. I noticed they have a very impressive selection of wines and they seemed very reasonably priced, too. My husband and I had the crab cake appetizer and I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a crab cake so good! The sauce served with them really made the dish. For dinner I had the Mahi Mahi that was topped with a mango salas and it was so delicious! My husband had a Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Our waiter refilled our drinks before we could even ask, and was very attentive the entire time we were there. I thought the portion sizes were great for the money so I’m definitely coming back to try some more of their food. They have other restaurants and bars, even a sports bar, but this was the first time we had ever eaten in the French Quarter. I highly recommend it, treat yourself if you have never been.
The Dawg House Bar...2nd floor casino. It is a nice bar especially on Karaoke nights on Tuesday. I went with my husband and some friends and we had a lot fun, were laughing a lot at the contest for the best voice....the place is big so that you can bring your whole family for dancing, singing and drinking...the pitchers are reasonable $5.00 all night...we are making a plan to celebrate my husband's birthday in the bar..don't miss the fun....Dawg House 2nd floor of the casino Mardi Gras
The Dawg House Karaoke Night. I normally don't go to karaoke nights but my boss asked me to go to the Dawg House Sports Bar at Mardi Gras for Karaoke Night. What a blast! Awesome drink specials all night! $1 drafts...$5 pitchers!!! That helped loosen me up for a little singing! Food was great too! Chicken nachos FTW!!! The people were super friendly and we all had a great time!
