Almost amazing, then a complete failure.
On the recommendation of a friend, we went to Kitchenetta for the first time expecting some really good food. I think it really could have been but they screwed up almost everything.
They serve bread, which is like a thin crust of pizza with some olive oil and herbs on it. Great Idea, but unfortunately while it looked fine, it tasted completely burned.
After 25 minutes of waiting, we had Calamari. Honestly it was amazing. Also has a couple of great glasses of wine. We should have stopped there.
After we were done with the appetizer, we waited an hour and 20 minutes for our meal to arrive. We got excuses that they make the meal from scratch. Well if that is the case then they need more prep cooks or something because the meal shouldn't have taken more than 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. We were sitting next to the bar/kitchen, and you could tell things were in chaos. They ran out of their signature dish and almost half their limited menu by 8:30 at night. So they suggested a specialty dish for us. Which was crushed meatballs in sauce over rigatoni. Of course after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes after our large appetizer, we weren't really hungry anymore, but the pasta was completely undercooked. The pasta obviously wasn't fresh because fresh pasta is never that hard. We also had a breaded pounded veal that was very over cooked. it was dry like it had sit in the window under heat lamps for a half hour (which I wouldn't doubt). I cut out about a one in square from the center that was pretty good, but over 75% of the $29 dish was completely trashed.
There were many other unhappy customers that evening, so maybe it was just a bad night for them, but I was really surprised that with such good foundations, their time management of the kitchen, management and servers completely destroyed the meal.
The manager, Maria, stated that she "found it hard to believe" that the food was bad, so i handed her our food which we had hardly eaten.
