Tips for Fishing Headquarters

May 06, 2013

Went fishing with Captain Vic and Greg and they were as attentive as could be. Took us to a reef and everyone caught mostly snapper--fun! Greg kept us all baited and guided me when I caught a 12 lb dolphin (mahi mahi). Capt. Vic cleaned it or us and told us about a walking distance restaurant that would cook it up for us. Wonderful dinner. Don't listen to the negative comments. For $35 you have a great tour of yachts and mansions plus good fishing. They do a completely voluntary pot for biggest fish which is fun, too.

we fished with Capt. Rod and Kevin on the afternoon sportfishing trip. There was 6 people on the boat and we had a blast. The crew was great and moved fast to change bait/lures/techniques resulting in many fish caught. We took home about 7lbs of filets & enjoyed it immensely. The crew was very friendly & cleaned our fish. In addition, the crew was very patient with a child who was annoying & they were great about explaining what they were doing and why...results great dinner!! Thanks guys we will be back!!

They explained the game plan and what types of fish we could expect to catch this time of year. We caught a couple King Mackerel. They made for some awesome smoked fish!

I'd go back out with them again.

We were scheduled to go on a drift fishing trip on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. When we arrived @ Fishing Headquarters, they said that one of their deep sea fishing charters was not fully booked and that they would rather send that boat out full. They gave us an AMAZING deal for a 4 hour deep sea fishing trip. Both Captain John and the mate, Robert, were absolutely amazing! They were both very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I caught a HUGE Atlantic Sailfish (John & Robert said that the fish was trophy sized fish and estimated it was about 6ft long and about 80 lbs.) The people on the boat also caught a Bonita and a King Mackerel, but the best catch of the trip was my sailfish! We are planning to visit South Florida in the future and will definitely go fishing with the Fishing Headquarters crew again! We would reccomend them to anyone looking for a guide service. Not only were they knowledgeable about the deep sea fishing techniques, but they were very personable and friendly

What a great experience! The captain~ Adam was great and his first mate Ryan made the fishing trip the best ever. Adam was very knowledgable and Ryan was so great with the kids. And we caught a 9'4'' Hammerhead Shark! The Best.....

The crew was available for help and would bait the hooks if needed, and were willing to give me the kind of bait I wanted to use (squid eyes and tentacles). They were good about letting the customers doing the reeling in, and offered occasional verbal help- they did not take over.

There was plenty of room inside to warm up or take a break.

It was a highlight of our trip!

We decided to do the 7:30 - 11:30 p.m. time because we had never been fishing at night before. I planned to pay online, but called and was told to show up and pay there to save the internet transaction fee. The booth is easy to find, and the people working seemed friendly and low key. We bought our tickets, and boarded the boat, the 55' Mary B III. The boat pulled out as the sun was setting over Fort Lauderdale, and cruised past the beautiful homes and yachts along the intercoastal.

We were told that the fishing had not been very good due to a storm that dropped the water temperature 20 degrees, but that they would work hard to find some fish. And we did!

We fished at 3 different spots, and there were lots of fish caught, though not a lot of keepers. Lots of grunts, eels, and some small snappers. I caught a scorpionfish!
