Finest Colombian Food I Ever Tasted In The USA.
Today I visited El Balcon De Las Americas premises located in Margate, FL. I had heard from my Colombian friends about this place, but up to now I had never had a chance to check it out.
All of the ravings I heard about the place, turned out to be well founded. The food was not only excellent, but
plentiful. The service was courteous and timely, the atmosphere, though spartan, was amiable and fitting.
My wife ordered a "Bandeja Paisa", which is the favorite dish of her hometown and she could not have been more pleased. The meat was tender, the chicharron was freah and crispy. The beans were al diente, not soupy just right-I know this because I took a taste myself. The only drawback was that the food in the bandeja was 'plentiful'.
My daughter ordered a 'Carne Asada", which is grilled sirloin flat meat, and her veredict was 'Magnificent'. The meat was not just tender, but cooked to perfection-not overdone, not raw- just right. It was juicy and with that unmistikable fine churrasco aroma.
I ordered a 'Sobrebarriga', something colombians call the taste of our land. And tasty it was, not only tasty but at the right level of tenderness. Which is something I have experienced that is dificult to achieve, this piece of flank steak was done just right, not dry at all. I ordered mine chargrilled

NOT TRUE COLOMBIAN CUISINE.
I grew up in Colombia and know what true Colombian food tastes like. This restaurant makes a mockery of true Colombian food. For starters, the service was awful. It took several minutes before the waitress came to us. She was dressed really hoochy and seemed indifferent to us.
I ordered and "sobrebarriga la criolla", and it was overcooked. The meat was "mushy". My daughter ordered a "Bandeja Paisa". The pork was not fresh, the meat had no seasoning, it looked like they just threw it on the grill. The juices we ordered had black particles in it.
If the owner of this restaurant is Colombian, he needs to rethink his/her citizenship and go back and learn what true Colombian food is. What a disgrace.
