Surpassed Expectations. A Flawless Piece of Art.
First, google his name Stevie Moon for the correct
address and phone numbers, the ones here are incorrect.
I came for a cover up. Okay, i was young and really thought i knew what i wanted. I researched at least 45 different studios from Miami to Palm Beach and his work just called to me. It was versatile, it seemed that he had a grace and being a woman i wanted something that flowed and wasnt clunky like this piece I had covered. The first visit was mostly questions about what i liked and photos of the area(lower back, surprise!) and a call within a week or so. Stevie called me the next week with a printout from computer of my existing tattoo with tracing paper over it with what i can only describe as the most extraordinary jeweled orchid with water/wind coming thru it. I did not know this delicate working drawing could cover this 'blob' that i had. Then i was traced, doodled on and more pictures.
I dont know what to say. This is the most gorgeous tattoo i have ever seen and it is on me. He pleaded with me to just not tell people it is a coverup, guess i am screwing this up here but I didnt know you could cover things like this up! The original was dark and just a blob of dark color that melted into itself. Now I have this flower with jewels and water drops hanging off the petals, this perfectly placed wind that seems to let the piece breathe. I was nervous just because for well over a decade I had this constant reminder of what a tattoo was to me, just ugly. Now I have this delightful, lady like, delicate piece of art on me that I am not NOT embarrassed to show the world! And I just recently bought a two piece for the first time in ages! It compliments my figure and the colors are incredible.
Seems that SPF is critical to maintain but so worth it.
He was a true professional. I liked that he would not only tell me what could and could not work to cover the
original, he explained it thoroughly. And in such a way that it made sense. "You dont want a tattoo that looks like a paint gun shot you" he said and that is what i had. The movement was critical to me also as I did not want that 'tramp stamp' back there any more(seemed cool so long ago). And the colors, they GLOW!
This is the only man that will tattoo me. Took a bit to start the actual work but for the time spent on the preparation and the thought that was put into it, it makes sense it would take some time. Now that i see what i am wearing I can understand the long wait to get an appointment. But so worth it. I was told by a friend who recommended me it would be a process, I was intrigued considering if he is good then maybe this is the one ingredient I would need. It prevailed, I so happy with this tattoo! He said it would be on the website soon, but in person it is so much better than a picture. It is stunning!
Thank you for an incredible tattoo and helping me with removing something that i had on me that I just did not like and want to be seen by anyone including me.
By the way he is in Wilton Manors on the drive now, see some info about Gateway or Federal. I cannot recommend this tattooist enough. Check his work out on the website and call for a consultation. You will not be disappointed. But don't tell him i mentioned the cover up that I received! You would never know it was one anyway.
No more tramp stamp
Breathtaking Orchid Nouveau
Just Insane Work.
The work is insane. the website only touches what Steve and Josh can do. Personable and just loves what he does. Consulted and waited for the tattoo, but the time was for the piece to be drawn up and then executed. Seems to draw everything he does. There is only two people there, so waiting for a call for a day or two is not uncommon. Josh is also a wonderful tattooist. Steve will work with you for that magic tattoo, but if he thinks it wont work well as a tattoo, he will explain it and try to steer you in a better direction.
Try to find a bad tattoo from this shop. And you wont meet a friendlier tattooist. Cordial, thorough, explains every detail and just downright on the ball. Worth the wait, i can see people getting inpatient, but so worth the wait.
Look at the website, you just DONT see this type of work out there. Josh and Steve, kudos and thank you for a wonderful experience and tattoo! Already planning my next one!!!!! Oh, the Sunrise address is like YEARS old. He is now on Federal and 26th just outside Wilton Manors. His website will tell you where. Talk to these guys, they smoke! They even told me initially that if i dont get the work there, to ask whatever questions i may have, they would help in any way! Its about the art in this shop.
Cant say enough good things about these tattooists. Check for yourself. They didnt even charge me for the consult. How cool is that? Well worth investigating for yourself. Even if you dont get it done there, they are so cool they will still give their opinion and try to help out. That is just incredible.
AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Went to this artist for a tatto but was unable to complete. He makes appointments - constantly breaks them.... shows significant unwarranted DIVA attitude - has assistants refer to him as "the artist".
Quick to criticise other artists, very moody - as in other reviews - get him on a good day and he'll start decent work - get him on a bad day - and - well - on these days he just doesn't show up.
Say the wrong thing and he will throw you out of his studio.
There are great artists in Fort Lauderdale whose ego's haven't destroyed their customer service - this shop has gone from 4 artists to a one man shop and from one where it took weeks to get an appointment to one where they can book you in 3 days - problem is - when you show up - they might not.
Custom Work, Not a Flash Shop.
Wonderful tattooing. Definitely a mom and pop store. There is no receptionist and the one on one attention is very cool. Extremely casual environment, nicely decorated, but the top seller is the tattoo work. Website is what
sold me. Saw the work, wanted Stevie, Josh's work though is very cool, but knew what i wanted. Got well beyond that. Parking sucked a bit with parking meters, but after first sitting Stevie told me it was cool to park in the back at a certain part of lot free and that was where i parked for future sittings. No one has the man's finesse. Period. He seems to do any style, and do it flawless. the site will speak to that. Hard to get an appointment, as he is who will call you, and it can take a little bit. You will wait a bit for appointment to, as he is booked in advance, but
what a wait, so worth it. Was nervous too at first, the consult, but then realized it was free and just to gather info on what i wanted, and boy was that thorough. Then time to spend designing the work, never considered an artist wanting to spend so much time before it was even inked on me. That made me feel safe. The tattoo definitely takes first in priorities here. Surpassed all my expectations. Im blown away.
And totally not corporate, he is extremely straight forward, witnessed him decline work cause he wasnt comfortable with the image that someone wanted. I asked him about it. He said that he just cant do work that
he wont be proud of. Bottom line: Crazy artist, insane ink, solid experience. If you are impatient, pushy, demanding, i dont think this studio is for you. If you want thought out, sensitive, quality work that is painstakingly paid attention to, then this is the place. And be patient. When i say 'mom and pop' i really mean it.
BEWARE of quality. When the studio was in Gateway Mall, soothing spa music was always playing relaxing the customers. And, it appeared that customer service was at the upmost. Now that it has moved to 26th Street, all you hear is blaring rock music. No one returns customer phone calls, and there is little to no privacy between the two stations. Perhaps fame has gone to its head? My tattoo happens to be on line under Brian's work. In the picture, it looks GREAT; however, in person is where you see the flaws. He had gone out of the outlines four times. One, which was too noticable, was fixed by making a curve thicker. Ther others remain. Also, on one of my supposed points, there is an "x" where the tips do not meet. Amateur work at professional prices. Mind you, I AM NOT balking at the $300.00, but balking at what I received for the price. This is the second of my last Stevie Moon tattoos by any artist in his studio. My first was perfect, but then again, Brian didn't do it. The ONE redeeming factor is the "nu gel" which helped heal the tattoo quite efficiently.
Tattoo Giant???. Stevie is an amazing artist. The problem is that his work is not consistant. If you catch him in a good mood... you're in luck. If not.. try another day.
Nice, professional, accommodating artists! A great atmosphere!.
This is my second tattoo and I was really hoping that this experience would be better than my last! I searched online for tattoo shops and came across the website for Stevie Moon. I looked over both artists work and really liked both. The site is very professional and well organized. My friend and I were both getting tattoos and Todd had the style that we were looking for. I first e-mailed Todd with an idea of what we wanted. He got back to me quickly and said that he would call me to talk. After our phone conversation, we set up a face to face consult and he was very accommodating.
The Shop: The shop is very clean and cozy feeling. It isn't the typical shop with smoking supplies and a bunch of flip books on the wall with tattoo ideas. It is painted in a calming lavender with beautiful curtains separating the two tattoo areas. We also learned that it is by appointment only, which I think is great!
The Consult: When we got there, Todd had already begun to research our ideas. He made us feel very comfortable and he is extremely calming (even for someone as hyper as myself). We took about an hour all together and by the end, we had a good feel for what I wanted, and my friend's tattoo was drawn and she loved it! He really took the time to ask questions in order to give us what we wanted, but also gave us his opinion as the expert, which was really nice!
The Appointment: Todd had my drawing when we got there and I loved it! We started with my friend's tattoo. All of the needles in the shop are one time use and they are very clean about their work! Todd was warm and welcoming and did a great job on her tattoo. He finished it in exactly the amount of time he estimated and it looked beautiful. My tattoo was next and Todd made sure to give me breaks to move around and made the whole experience enjoyable! I LOVE my tattoo! We also met Stevie who was very nice (and his work is beautiful). Overall, I highly recommend Stevie Moon Tattoos (and Todd)!
