Tips for Tico Travel

They don't answer the phone. I purchased a ticket through their website. The price was a little cheaper than through other travel websites. I checked with the airline after paying for the ticket and it they do have me in their system as being scheduled for a flight, so that it is good.

My problem is that I want to change the return flight and the do not answer the phone. The website doesn't not have instructions on how to change the flight. The airline said I have to change it using the travel agency.

I'm extremely frustrated that they do not answer the phone. I left a message and sent and email - no response!

Horrible service. I called Tico travel to book a trip for my father an I to Costa Rica and was appalled by the service I recieved. I spoke with a guy who told me his name was Juan (but only after I asked a few times -- he didnt really want to identify himeself) and he incredibly unprofessional, and ended up hanging up on me because I asked to many questions. Basically, I wanted help decided whether to fly into Liberia or San Jose, and then from there I wanted help figuring out an itenerary for 2 days in the rain forest and 2 days ion the beach. However, because I didnt know what rain forest, what beach, what airport, what hotel, etc, he got frustrated and hung up on me. It has been my experience that the point of using a travel agency is that you dont know where to stay or how to get there, and they help you figure that out. If you give me the options, I can choose, but done make me call you with all of that already in mind. The entire conversation was less than 10 minutes long and it was extremely clear that Juan wasn't really even paying attention. At the end of the conversation, he hung up on me. I can't imagine taking the risk of travelling accross the world with an agency that works like this.

False Advertising. Tico travel has been posting for over two weeks two separate airfare offers, one for $322.00 plus 58.97 in taxes and one for 369.99 plus 58.97 in tax that is no longer available even though the both offers have an experation date of Oct 31, 2006 and I plan on completing my travel before the date. They do have flights available for $120.00 more per ticket plus tax in the same travel parameter. I spoke with a gentleman who grudgingly identifed himself as Juan and requested to speak to the manager, he stated she was unavailable and was unwilling to give me her name. I did leave my information and am still awaiting a call back as off this posting.
