Tropical Acres has been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Fort Lauderdale. My first visit there was for an event. The place was packed, and the food and service were excellent. I've since gone back at least 3 or 4 times a year to satisfy my need for its old Fort Lauderdale look and style. Food and drinks are always great. Service is exceptional. I've never been there when an owner has not been on site. Always friendly. Great steaks. Great everything they serve. And the prices are reasonable.
My first visit to Tropical Acres was a
Valentine's Day Celebration many years ago. I've celebrated many special events dining at TA and always had a consistently excellent experience.
But don't wait for a special occasion to visit Tropical Acres. Their Happy Hour is a great value and you get some VIP treatment from both Tom & Sharon behind the bar. It's a great venue to catch up with the girls or a nice break from the week with your honey. So enjoy some great company and some $5 apps for no reason at all!
This has been a destination restaurant for nearly 60 years. Snow birds and locals enjoy the best steaks and seafood in South Florida at very reasonable prices. The decor is like stepping back in time when you would get dressed up for dinner out. The fact that it has lasted this long says it all.
Attended my stepdaughter's wedding at Tropical Acres last weekend. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! Highlyl recommend Tropical Acres for any occasion!
Unprofessional Owner and Staff. If you plan to book this place for any type of occasion, let this review be a warning to you, We were hired to DJ 50th Anniversary for our client, we arrived two hours before the event started to setup our equipment. The owner's son opened the door and we proceeded to walk into the room and met the Banquet Captain Sandy, she never said good morning, never smiled. she was looking at her room setup form and was confused, we told her the best place for the DJ is close to the dance floor, she accused us of being rude. We had to move old six foot table across the room to avoid conflict with her, She looked like she did not want to be there and was in very bad mood. She told us the event is over at 3:30pm and the client with their guest and DJ must be out the room at 3:30pm I asked her how is it possible to breakdown our equipment and be out the door when it takes us about 1.5 hours to setup and breakdown. She then said do what you have to do. We then called our client to go over this and client wanted to talk to the son of the owner, we gave him our cell and the client told him there is no way the DJ can leave at 3:30pm he then changed the story and said our next event is at 6:00pm and the DJ has time to get out. He then insulted me to our client by calling me a cry baby. I then told him the way he spoke to my client was insulting and very unprofessional he replied back saying you don't like it get the F_ _ _K OUT! my reply to him was that he does not have to address me in this way and I don't work for him and he said thank god you don't I would throw you out of this place. We requested vendor meal and was ignored by all staff, Client paid for meal. The staff never smiled everyone working the room were all in depressed mood. Some of the guests were upset with the slow service wrong orders and steak and chicken was very dry and did not taste good. You are better off in finding better place in booking a event for the room and food. They have been around for very long time the place smells from mold and mildew they just had a fire and it should have burned down to the ground, you can go to Long Horn, Capital Grill, Ruth Chis, or Mortons and have better service quality steak. STAY AWAY!!!
Great Steakhouse!. I have been eating at Tropical Acres since I was a little boy. Now I bring my family there. I have eaten at steak houses around the country; no, the world for that matter. The biggest issue with many is consistancy.... Not with Tropical Acres. They are easily the most consistant with regards to all aspects of their restaurant. The food is always 100% fresh and cooked to order. They even make changes to some items when we go; the Pittsburgh Sear is amazing. The service is always on point and friendly. One of the most important points is the affordability of Tropical Acres. I mean a fine steakhouse with prices that you can afford. Thats why I can go there several times a year. Thanks Tropical Acres... Don't change a thing....
Summer "Stimulous" Specials!. Monday thru Friday only...Twin Maine Lobsters at $17.95 and Prime Rib at $13.95. Both come with a salad and a side of your choice. Don't miss these delicious dining deals!
Best Balance of Comfort, Elegance and Value!. I dine at Tropical Acres every time that I am in the South Florida area and I like that from the time you enter until the time that you leave that Tropical Acres balances comfort, elegance and value! The food has been consistently prepared the way that I request and is delicious with competitive pricing. The service staff is friendly as well as knowledgeable and proud of the number of years they have been with Tropical Acres. They offer a full service bar and the environment is conducicive to a couple's romantic night out or for a fun family celebration since they please patrons of all ages. I feel that Tropical Acres is one of South Florida's finest dining experiences.
Broward County's Best Kept Secret. Everytime I visit Tropical Acres I have a difficult time deciding what to order. My favorite is the Prime Rib and I just read that they are having a Prime Rib and Twin Lobster special in June '09. Sign up on their website for their e-mail specials, right off the bat they invite you in with a complimentary appetizer.
Never a dissapointment. I could make a meal our of thier escargot, gorganzola toast and capresse salad...but I just love the way they grill thier filet mignon. It is so flavorful and always cooked just the way I like it. The service is also amazing, no other restuarant goes out of thier way like Tropcal Acres. Last week my friend was visiting and we went for dinner..she wanted an special drink that had particulatr ingredients and clearly not something on the regular drink list-she asked the server anyway and before we knew it the manager himself made us the drinks and brought them to our table- Talk about above and beyond! I reccommend Tropical Acres to anyone who wants a great meal and a good time.
