Closed. This restaurant is now closed. It's a shame as the food was good and the views of the New River were spectacular.
Awful, not impressed.. Service and food were less than average. The hostess was unwelcoming. Waiter was inexperienced. Untrained in wines and the menu. He only checked on our party once. This place came highly recommended but not sure why. Water view was nothing to write home about. Prices were high for the lack of service. Will not return.
romantic romantic. beautiful candle lit place. unique. great service, staff could be better at wine knowlage but really good. food is fantastic.... gem
Great spot. FUN HAPPY HOUR!! When it is a beautiful night it is awesome to sit on the verandah and have cocktails! Its like having a beautiful mansion on the river with out the big mortague! Great friendly service and dinner is really good too. Love it before a play.... Yummy!!!
Location and constistancy. I adore this restaurant. The food is classic and consistant, the service is warm, you see the same faces year after year. I love that I can pull up on the boat for an easy casual dinner or go in my dressy duds before the opera. It really has become my "go to restaurant". Very few places in South Florida have the beautiful old world style and also have a fantastic menu.
Worst Experience. Had reservation for 8:00 on patio. Arrived at 8:00pm and was not seated on patio but in the restaurant. We informed them we wanted a patio seat and then waited for 30 min. When seated, table was not ready. When asked for a candle, it was a big issue to get one as every other table had one. When eating at the patio, a man was throwing up in the garden next to the patio after eating at the River House. As the night went on, the staff was cleaning the tablecloths off the tables around us and felt like we were being rushed out as we were still eating our main course. The food was good but not great. All in all, the bill was approx. $130.00 for two people. A price way too much for what we experienced. You are better off going to Morton?s Steakhouse for the same choices of food for much better service and quality of food.
River House Sinks. The River House is located on a canal across from a used boat dealership which ruins the view from the restaurant. The architecture is the one thing going for this restaurant so go and take pictures but find another place to eat. Two glasses of a wine which sells for under $12 dollars a bottle costs $23 and is served in the 3-4 oz. range (1/3 wine glass). Our meal consisted of grouper which wasn?t fresh (Sunday night) and was 8-10 minutes over-cooked. There was a wedding party going on and perhaps the attention of the kitchen was here. It certainly wasn?t on the other diners. The asparagus spears looked more like javelins (3/4? dia.) and were essentially raw. The waiter took our order, cleared the appetizers, and delivered the check, the bare essential and acceptable. The meal was inexcusable however; and, at over $100 for two, insulting.
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Restaurant located on the New River serves fresh day boat fish, prime cuts of beef and locally grown produce.
Exquisite In Everyway.
I am Front Desk Manager a small boutique hotel in Fort Lauderdale..I try my best to send every guest to this restaurant
..First of all it is situated in the most beautiful area in the city and the building is in an old mansion on the New River ..the best ambiance in town...romantic, historic and quiet!
Secondly the food is usaully flawless...I recommend the Crawfish PotPie appetizer if available...one of the best dishes I have ever eaten...
You can take the Water Taxi to its last stop at Riverwalk and just walk a few hundred feet further up river to River house..They also do a fantastic Sunday brunch
It may be chaotic if there is a wedding reception occuring or some other party....
....if you have a small group ask for one of the private rooms upstairs..where you can usually be a little more rambuctious without stares from other diners!!
In a nutshell if you have one night and one resaturant to visit...go nowhere else...

Fabulous!. I had my wedding and reception there on the back patio. Everything went off beautifully and flawless. My husband and I have since been back there on a few occasions and the food, service, and ambience were still excellent.
