Different, exciting, like going back in time to the 1950s the Mai Kai is one of the last remaining original Tiki restaurants. Trendy NYC joints are now trying to mimic it. This is the real thing. Apps are the best value, order several and share. Can't beat the 2-for-1 drinks for happy hour, but at regular price they are expensive - $12-$18, but still worth it. You don't go here to get a Cosmo, you go here to get strong, exotic cocktails made with secret recipes and garnished in giant pineapple chunks and orchids. Show is fantastic. NOT for people who think Olive Garden is a great place to eat. Live a little, try the Mai Kai.
Yummmmyyyy. Always a great time when myself, friends, and family visit Mai Kai. The drinks specials are a good plus too! Great idea for a business meeting, birthdays, and major accomploshments as they host a lovely show!
Great happy hour with live music on Friday's 5-7pm. Great local historical Polynesian get away on busy Federal Highway. When I'm at the Mai Kai, I feel like I'm on vacation!
Fun, different. The show made for a very entertaining dinner. I thought the food was pretty good. Overall, it was a unique experience and I' d go again.
Mai Kai rip off. Decided to celebrate my mom's 50th bday here. We called to make a reservation for 10 and there was no problem. Once we arrived there and tried to park we were charged with a 5$ parking fee which they never explained over the phone. Second it was happy hour at the bar. I went to order a drink in the bar for faster service and so I could receive the half price. Once my friend and I were in the bar a worker came up and hounded us about ordering a drink and then returning to the dining area. Food was ok, I asked if i could share a meal with someone and the girl told us they were way to big entrees to share. We shared anyway and it was plenty. Then we brought our own cake and they charged us a cake cutting fee. This place was good but definitely not worth the money.
My Retirement Destination!. Everything about this place screams Vanishing Americana. Go, right now, before one more pre-Disney landmark disappears forever. Polynesian floor show, seventy-five entrees, fifty exotic drinks, vintage Tiki decor...it's all here, and you don't have to fly to the Bahamas to escape!
MAI KAI. They seated us quickly, The staff was amazing never leaving you wanting for any thing! I had the lemon chicken it was so good. The drinks are tropical and also amazing. The show leaves you wanting more. when you step in the front door you leave Floirda and enter the big island. I loves the Mia Kai I will do again !
Where do I start. This is definitly the worst food i have eaten. If i were to compare the quality of the food to the price, someone owes me money. $7.50 for an egg roll. The drinks are good, but i ordered two different drinks one at the bar ond one in the resturant and they brought me the same drink with two different names and dollar amounts. The only reason I didnt complain was that they were good. wouldnt go again.
The food was bad, the show was good.
When I say the food was bad I meant I ordered the teriyaki chicken and spent most of the night in the bathroom. Its not because of the spice either (i'm latin I love spices) something was horribly bad with the chicken. My little sister had ordered the same dish and she is sick as well...
The show was cool tho....
Deceptive Trade Practices, Patrons Beware!!!.
I'm a local S. Fla resident and met some out of town friends that wanted to go to the Mai Kai for Happy Hour
(Sad Hour :-( @ the Mai Kai). They Advertise buy one drink and the second is one us. The service was great in the beginning than it went to downhill right after the third drink was ordered. We asked the server where was our 2nd free drink after the third and she said only the 2nd was free. Please visit their web site maikai and you shall see buy one drink and your 2nd is free...DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES!!!
We asked the bar mgr Rick, he really should put a "P" in front of his name as he said nothing and just ignored us as I'm sure he hears it all the time. I told him to change the website to limit 1 or one drink only but just ignored me. It wasn't always like this it used to be buy one get one thru 7PM no limit. I heard the oldman died and left the restaurant to his kid who never bothered to put a roof on the place after Wilma blew it off and doesn't pay his quartly taxes (snorts away the profits). The place is a filthy tourist trap clip joint now :-( BTW the PooPoo plater lived up to its name, bunch of fried garbage same as the crab rangoon.
