In Short
Built in 1920, Bonnet House is the legacy of Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett. Saltwater wetlands and a jungle of mangrove trees surround the property, which sits on 35 acres amid the expansive development of the big city. The beautiful home is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The property also features a museum with seashells from around the world on display. An orchid house has varieties of more than 300 plants from Evelyn Bartlett's collection. The ecosystem that around the property is home to manatee, crabs, a variety of fish and birds, a colony of squirrel monkeys and a fruit grove where mango, avocado and guava trees grow.
