Stay away! Servers are rude, food isn't good, bread is almost always stale. Houston's corporate needs to get involved. The location is amazing, everything else is not. Please save our Houstons! We love it in Pompano, it just needs a food/service makeover badly. The decor is still fantastic.
If you want to throw your money away Houston Restaurant in Pompano Beach is the place to go.
The prices were ridiculous. The portions were puny. The fish I ordered was half burnt.
Do you think they could provide a salad or a bowl of soup with the chintzy portion I was served. I felt like an idiot. I felt violated. I must have been a schmuck to go to this place. I'll never go back and I would advise you do the same. I spent $45. for my wife and myself and I was very disappointed.
And to top things off, when the bill came it was incorrect. They overcharged from what the menu stated. I told the waitress and she said "Are You Sure"? She really didn't care, but she then brought back the corrected bill. I left her a tip out of pity.
I ate at Denny's the next night and for $7.99 on the senior menu I had a really great Dinner!
Disability People is discrimated – Houston at Pompano Beach doesn't allow people with disability get in the place, because they have their own interpretation about what is a "Disability Person". Last Saturday (5/52012) they denied that my Pet Service get in the place, because the said that my problem is not a disability problem. it is incredible that such events happen in USA, and specially in a Restaurant that has to obey the ADA Act, and has not its own interpretation and rules..IT IS NOT LEGAL
Houston's Not Kid Friendly – Went on March 6, 2012 with 4 adults and 2 children and was told there would be a 2 hour wait, despite there being only a handful of people waiting. Went outside, called the restaurant and asked what the wait for 6 people would be and told 45 minutes!!! Guess they don't want kids in their restaurant but they should post this. Hostess was very unfriendly, Will never go back to this restaurant.
Going Down Hill – Went February 19,3012 after not going last year. Very disappointed,. The once delicious smoked salmon was tasteless and greasy. The ribs were dry and scaty in quantity. The exorbitant price was not commensurate with quality.
Manager Zachary hatem serious attitude problem! – My wife and I frequent many fine restaurants in NYC and Miami Florida area and we used to frequently eat at the Houston's on Atlantic in pompano beach until today.
They treat good paying customers like dirt. We have never experienced such a incident and obviously it has bothered me enough to make this posting here on new Years day of all days!!
The manager on duty Zachary hatem was not able to handle a simple situation that occurs in most restaurants daily and was not only offensive and rule to myself and my wife but had the nerve to tell wife after she called to follow up with her complaint never to eat at the restaurant again. Well thank you for 10 plus years of being a frequent customer. I suggest mr Zachary hatem find another line of work.
But the problems at this Houston's go beyond just one horrible manager nAmed Zachary hatem. I've been going here for 10 years and only ordering the BBQ ribs which are good but the service has been lacking for some time now and after this experience I've promised to myself never again.
If you like ok food and don't mind being treated like cattle then you should consider this restaurant. Otherwise stay away. The problem with or lack of customer service starts with management and jerks like Zachary hatem and then reflect the entire staff.
Sashimi Tuna Salad – I have been going to Houston's in Pompano Beach for 7 years and usually order the Sashimi Salad with cheese toast and it is always the very best and most delicious!! Certainly worth a 5 *****

Burnished brass and stained wood complement roughly mortared brick and the occasional plant. Amid ubiquitous earth tones, corporate types and small parties (celebrating or simply living large) occupy deep booths done up in fine upholstery and lit from above by pin spotlights. Burgers, prime rib and steaks are the specialties of the house, but the menu also includes salmon, salads, pork chops and roasted chicken.
Respecful, courteous waitress needed! – Our experience on 11/24/07 at this location started off on a positive note. The bartenders, Vincent and Jeremy were extremely attentive and personable while we waited the forty minutes for our seats. However, the rest of our dining experience soon became appalling. It all started with a "mix-up" with the order; we were treated as though we were felons for our waitress's mistake. Personally, I believe that she (waitress) must have received a stern reprimand for the incident because when she returned with the correct meal she abruptly placed it on the side and offered no apology. Her attitude was evident for the rest of the night; she didn't check on us, refill our glasses, and made no attempt at eye contact. We've eaten at a few Houston's in the South Florida area. Obviously, we were taken aback by this treatment! In the past two weeks my boyfriend and I have been dining out at high end restaurants such as Barton G, Morton's, and Ruth Chris to name a few, not only was the food delectable, the service was phenomenal! I guess the old adage is true- you get what you pay for!!! Clearly, the wait staff at this location needs to be reminded that customer satisfaction should be their number one priority.
No To Go, No eating in the bar, not convenient at all!! – Houston's has great food, but inconvenient policies. I recently went to eat alone on a whim when I was told I can only eat appetizers in the bar. After I was informed that there was no take out, my only option left was to wait 40 minutes for an large awkward table that emphasized my lack of company. No thank you! I retreated upset that I couldn't easily enjoy a Houston's burger for an OK burger at Flanigan's bar which allows ordering from the menu at the bar. This is a serious kink that Houston's needs to resolve to become a better restaurant.
